The Characters of Saint Seiya

The
star of the series, Seiya is your typical Anime / Manga hero: he refuses
to quit - ever! Even if DEATH is imminent, he doesn't care - he'll fight to the death to protect his Friends. He holds honor very high, and would never attack from behind. His main goal for participating in the Galaxian Wars Tournament is to find his older Sister, whom he was separated from when he was sent off to train in Greece. Throughout
the series, Seiya constantly beats a list of foes, ever growing in |

The
Saint of the Dragon, Shiryu trained in China under The retired Golden
Saint of Libra. He possesses a near indestructible shield, and a devestating attack called the ROZAN SHO RYU HA, or Rising Dragon Strike. He and Seiya share a strong bond of Friendship, as they have each almost died for each other on more than one occasion. Shiryu once had to blind himself in order to avoid being turned to stone by a Silver Saint's mystical Medusa Shield. |

The
Cygnus (Swan) Saint from Siberia. Hyoga is half Japanese. Like the other
Bronze Saints. he's an orphan, but he knows where his Mother lies. Her ship went down, and rests at the bottom of the Siberian Sea. There she lies in state, perfectly preserved, where he is able to swim down to visit her. Armed with powerful ice-based attacks, es- pecially his Diamond Dust & Aurora Thunder attacks, Hyoga vanquished many foes, and was brought back to life on more than one occasion. Hyoga is also easily the most religious character of the series, actually wearing a cross at all times. This is almost NEVER seen in animation, American OR Japanese. |

In
Knights of the Zodiac, Hyoga's name has stayed the same, except he's called "Swan" instead of Cygnus. I guess the U.S. producers didn't think we'd be smart enough to know they're the SAME thing. |

A
very gentle soul, Shun would rather NOT fight, than battle, but knows
that at times he has no choice. The reason is rather obvious- his near-invincible Nebula Chains. Used both defensively AND offensively, they almost guarantee victory each time. Andromeda is the younger brother of Phoenix, who went to Death Queen Island in Shun's place, knowing that his gentle brother would not survive. |

Very
probably the most powerful Bronze Saint (at FIRST, at least). Phoenix
starts out evil, as he is only after the Gold Armor in a bid to take over the world, driven by his hatred of the other Bronze Saints, especially his brother, Shun. Phoenix' armor has a unique power that no other Armor (even Gold Armor) has - it can recreate itself, even if destroyed without any outside help. Ikki also has this ability - if he is killed, he will soon revive. After all, a Phoneix will always rise again. Phoenix uses powerful fire attacks, and has a most terrible attack, the GENMA KEN, or Demon Fist. This makes the opponant experience horrible visions, as if they were real. Victims have gone catatonic from this attack. After his mind was set free, Ikki joined with the other Bronze Saints in defending Athena, though he preferred to do it on his own, often showing up when needed the most especially by his kid brother. |
